Preparedness for professional accounting and auditing examinations is all about one thing – practice. With practice it becomes far easier to know what to expect and to be confident when test day arrives. Comfort is also a valuable commodity to have on exam day. My courses are designed to prepare students with the questions and topics they will face on that day. Having been exposed to and prepared for the topics are the building blocks for successful examination preparation.

I am not loathe to speak at length on topics, but I do not waste time with lecture as I am sure that your professors and instructors have guided and built your knowledge and you have worked hard in the past to now contemplate taking the CPA, CMA, CIA and CISA examinations. My classes are filled with questions, old examination questions, the latest examination questions available to prepare for the exams, and my own questions that give more practice to the more difficult topics and fill gaps on topics I believe need more emphasis and are not covered adequately in other material. I supplement my CPA, CMA and CIA questions with Gleim Publications, Inc. books and downloaded questions that I offer to students. If students become accustomed to face question after question in my classes, there is little reason to be nervous and unsure on examination day. This is not drudgery; there is a relaxed atmosphere, the place to make your mistakes without penalty!

In 1988 I studied for the CPA and the CMA examinations at the same time. I passed both these examinations five months apart in June and November 1989, and the following year I passed the CIA examination with just 50 hours of studying, illustrating just how similar much of the material is for these three examinations. Having prepared for and passed eight professional examinations, including the CISA examination twice. I pass this experience on to my students as to how to study for examinations, including tips for successful question analyzing and focusing on key words to increase students’ for selecting the correct response to examination questions.

My competitors charge more due to the overhead and profit margin they encounter and desire. In working with an outstanding colleague, I do not face these issues, which is why my prices are affordable. I am also a consultant as you can see by my resume. I do this because I enjoy instructing and I also learn a great deal from my students.

My goal is threefold for my students:

  • Raises
  • Promotions
  • and/or A New Job!

Ron's Full Bio

In 1983, I began my accounting career as a staff accountant, after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management in the prior year. After earning a Master of Science in Accounting in 1987, along with working in staff accounting positions, I spent two years as a controller, five years in public accounting and since 1998, I have been an accounting consultant in a variety of industries with over twenty companies ranging in size from tens of millions to trillions in revenue and assets.

Here is a list of companies where I have performed accounting and auditing consulting services:
  • General Motors Corporation
  • Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae)
  • The Salvation Army
  • Bearing Point
  • Liberty Medical Corporation
  • The Mills Corporation
  • Ricoh Copiers USA
  • University of California Riverside Foundation
  • Ziehm Corporation
  • Wilden Pump and Engineering
  • West Dermatology
  • Norris Rods
  • California Steel Industries, Inc.
  • Inland Empire Utility Agency
  • California State Teachers' Retirement System
I began preparing students to pass the CMA examination in 1998 and the CIA examination in 2000. I took a sabbatical to teach in a PhD program in the Fall of 2004, but that has been only hiatus I have taken from having review classes for these examinations. I can safely say that if you are diligent in studying what I present in class you will pass. In class you will do the work necessary to be successful, and that does not mean listening to me unless you instruct me that you do not understand what is being presented. About 70% of the students who take my classes eventually pass the test. But don’t be obsessed with pass rates because the biggest problem I have encountered is that STUDENTS FAIL – TO EVEN ATTEMPT TAKING THE EXAMINATION!!! Please do not waste your time and your money – if you attend my class I expect you TAKE THE TEST unless you have an outstanding reason not to!

In 2011 I will provide live review classes for the CPA, CMA, CIA and CISA examinations. I have also teamed with the Philadelphia based CMA University to provide on-line review courses beginning February 27th. I also provide assistance to Lambers CPA Review in the Boston area and LearnForce Examination Preparers located in Largo, Florida. Please click on the specific examination review(s) that interest you.

Beginning in January 2012 the courses and programs are being thoroughly reviewed and re-evaluated. Continuation of the courses will be announced at a later date.
